After being in the lead for the past three days and dawdling at the finish line, the Pearl Jam sponsored leatherback turtle Backspacer has crossed the finish line first in the Great Turtle Race!  The beautiful animal came from the northernmost waters in the Gulf of St. Lawrence in Nova Scotia and travelled all the way to the Caribbean finish line.

This race has been a great way to draw attention to the endangered status of the Leatherbacks, and to remind us that every action to help conserve this earth and our environment makes a difference!  Check out Backspacer’s race history here.

thanks Hilman T from Bugs for the early warning!
