Mike Talks About New Album to Seattle Radio

by Kathy Davis on May 18, 2009

Thanks to a post on the Pearl Jam Message Pit, it seems that Mike McC did a fabulous interview with Seattle FM 104.9 “The Funky Monkey”‘s DJ Damon Stewart, on Damon’s show “The Garage Monkey”.   Damon is a longtime Seattle-area DJ who interviewed the band waaaay back in 1991 when he worked at KISW, and he and Mike are old pals.  The rundown of what Mike spoke about:

- The Flight To Mars show raised $35,000 for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America
- Regarding the Mariners appearance benefit, you must use this special link to purchase tickets in order for the money to get credited to the CCFA www.Mariners.com/ccfa

-Regarding the new album: The band wrote most of the music with Brendan O’Brien, but without Ed, in LA.  They tightened it up, then Ed came in about halfway through to add to it.
- The band has just received final mix of the new album and are reviewing it.

- They hope to release the new album later this year – not end of year, more like fall.

To this, we at TFT say WOO FREAKIN HOO!  Bring it on, boys.  We needs us some new musics.

The radio station website  claims the “entire unedited Mike McCready interview” will be posted sometime today. We don’t know if that means this is what you’ll hear below or if there is more coming. Here are links to the interview, in three parts:

Mike McCready part 1 (5/13/09)

Mike McCready part 2 (5/14/09)

Mike McCready part 3 (5/15/09)

Thanks to B.Smith for the heads up!
