Pearl Jam at Key Arena in September?

by Kathy Davis on June 2, 2009

Seattleite Pearl Jam Message Pit poster STONEd and dAMENT-ED claims to have run into Mike McCready at the University Mall in Seattle, and that Mike told her they would be playing Key Arena in Seattle on September 22 & 23rd.  (Funny, it didn’t sound quite so “well, so and so said that so and so said….” when I originally decided to post this!)

The post:

It’s nice living in Seattle because we have saltwater, freshwater, mountains, sunshine, snow, and rain. On top of that this is the birthplace of such musicians as Alice in Chains, Foo Fighters, Chris Cornell, Kenny G (well maybe not so cool), Ben Harper, Duff McKagan, Heart, Jimi Hendrix, Green River, Mad Season, Modest Mouse, Mother Love Bone, Mudhoney, Sir Mix-A-Lot, and Soundgarden, to name a few. Oh yeah, I almost forgot…a band named Pearl Jam.

Sometimes, if you’re lucky, you run into a lot of these musicians. If you can manage to think of what to say when you meet them, you might be lucky enough to say thank you and express how much their band means to you personally. Sometimes you get to talk to them for a good while and you start to find out really cool stuff. You may even run into Mike McCready, one of the most incredibly nice, genuine, sincere, and down to earth musicians you will ever meet. And if you’re REALLY lucky, you find out that…

But that’s only if you’re REALLY lucky. Mike told me about the 22nd and a friend about the 23rd. While not official and understanding that Mike may have had his dates wrong, I can live with that. It’s going to be one hell of a summer and I can’t wait! Can you???!!! Hope this news helps the summer vacation planning for you, THE BEST FANS IN THE WORLD!

Given that Pearl Jam haven’t played a big show in Seattle proper in many years, and that the album is likely to be released on September 22, it sounds like a pretty plausible notion!
