I couldn’t be more tired of reading negative comments about a band that in my eyes has done a lot of things right over the years. Pearl Jam continues to try to find ways to please fans without supporting things they don’t believe in. What exactly do people who call them “sellouts” want? JustLikeThat, do you have a better idea of how PJ should do things? Very few bands can last as long as PJ and still put out creative, relevant music. I hope people continue to support and appreciate them as much as I have.

I’m very Pollyanna about anything my band do – and I do call Pearl Jam “my band” after 17 years as a fan…Based on what I know and have seen, I trust that they will make thoughtful, informed decisions regarding the way they conduct business. They are doing the best they can to adjust to the changing marketplace and still be free to be creative as artists. It’s hard to have the business side of it interfere with that, or to spend all the time making the art and having no way to get it to the people.

They have mouths to feed and a lot of people who work for them to support, and ultimately I want them to keep making money making music so I can keep going to see them play live. And just keep making music. It’s had a profound effect on me over the years and I’d hate for them to stop! So whatever they do, I’m for it.
