CP, You need to see more shows. If an artist doesn’t want to please me why the hell is he charging me money for his music. If he is making it for himself he should keep it to himself. If I’m paying money for something I have expectations. I also have the right to be critical. The fact is Eddie Vedder is straight up fantastic but they haven’t released a GREAT album since Yield. Their last three releases sucked. They aren’t even close to their best music. I hate saying it because they are one of my all time favorites but the fact is they don’t have it anymore. If you don’t agree you are either stupid or just haven’t been exposed to enough great music. Sorry!

Yelling things out is fine unless the performer’s telling a story, have some respect for everyone there to listen to that unique aspect of the theatre show. It’s really common sense. I’m sure Eddie could care less about the Freebird thing, he made a joke and moved on…..RP, saying the band has fallen off and ripping an album ? wtf is the point in that. Everything an artist makes is not to please you so just shut the **** up. Cmon, they’re still the best live band I’ve seen.

RP you are hilarious! These people don’t realize they are only fueling the fire. I hate that EV was disappointed in that comment because the show really was amazing, and so is he, but for the price of admission and $35 for a concert poster I’m still just regretting not shouting “Nicewanger.” I hope this thing blows up so big EV comments on it publicly. The whining about Freebird being shouted not only makes it funnier but before long, at this pace, it will become legendary.

Chris N. were you that guy weeping in the row in front of me during Small Town? You don’t have to be sad anymore remembering all the fun times you and your ex-girlfriend had throwing the frisbee and roller-blading to that tune. It will be alright, just take a deep breath, loosen your hemp necklace, and just remember, you dig guys anyway.

Laurie, Laurie, Laurie! I admire your loyalty to EV, I do, but teaching lessons about how to act in theater shows doesn’t make you Penny Lane. It’s not Ronnie Van Sant’s fault you caught the “Fever Dog” from two members of Stillwater. I saw EV drink vomit from Matt the Tube during the Jim Rose Circus Sideshow in 1992. I seriously doubt he is losing much sleep over someone yelling Freebird. He only said “Throw Him Out!” to give you people a reason to awaken from your Prozac stupor. So by all means, let it out, but leave Skynard alone, a southern man don’t want you around anyhow!

Remember something, I didn’t scream. I am saying I paid to see Eddie Vedder. He is there for my entertainment not vice versa. If somebody screams something he doesn’t like tough shit. How many concerts have you really been to where someone doesn’t yell something. Probablrynot many.That is part & parcel of attending live music shows. I am sure Eddie Vedder has heard alot worse things shouted at him in recent years than Freebird. Things like “you should have broken up in 1998″, for example. Or “Bianural is one of the worst albums of all time”.
Chris N., I will be in Memphis tonight. I live here. I will be shouting Freebird. I hope you spend the entire evening anticipating it and it distracts you from the music. You won’t be punching anything tonight I assure you. Hell, you probably won’t even be there. Don’t even hint at things you think you can do. The tragedy would be hearing me shout Freebird and then explaining to your two dads why you are missing your front teeth.

Hey Laurie,
I don’t really give a shit what Eddie Vedder wants. I paid my money and if I want to scream something obnoxious I will. I know what a theatre show is. I have been to the Ryman many many times and seen many types of music there. It is still a concert. I had agreat time. The show was fantastic just like I knew it would be. If Eddie Vedder is so sensitive to people he should stay home and play music to family. When you tour crowds are different and every night is a new adventure. As far as seeing him perform since 92 I am proud to say I have. If you had as well you would realize just how much they have dropped off. They don’t matter anymore. It’s sad. You also hate because you weren’t there in 92 to see him in his prime. Freebird will be shouted a million more times at a million more concerts. Get used to it and get over it. I’m surprised he doesn’t have a restraining order out against you tools. “He wiped his denum blue eyes with a black terry cloth towel”. Psycho! Vedder needs to get over himself, quit covering Dylan, & learn how to write a song again. If you want the best solo show go see Jeff Tweedy.
