Lilly’s Mom, I was one of the two men sitting behind you and your daughter the second night. So i had to tell you, I told my mom this story when i got back to town, and i swear to you she welled up and cried, keep in mind, I’m sure my mom has heard less than ten minutes of pearl jam in her life. I’m trying to explain to my mom how incredible ed is and the music he plays, and the effects it has on peoples’ lives. So i tell her how many times it made us smile to see two females, mother and small child enjoy these mostly quiet songs throughout the evening, singing, holding hands, hugging etc. Truely beautiful piece of humanity through music, and she smiles like, “aw thats cute, ya ya ya ya” kind of look. so i say, then they disappear and are gone, and i instantly kind of forgot about them, you know, being that ed is about to come back out for his encore. so i continue with the story to her like, “and then the encore is about to start, and who’s up on stage with ed for the encore?? THE LITTLE GIRL THAT WAS DANCING WITH HER MOM IN THE PEW IN FRONT OF ME ALL NIGHT” that was when the waterworks start. Great shit, I’ve told the story five times in the last two days, and laughed everytime. Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves.

I too was at the show at the Ryman June 18, and as you mentioned in your wonderfully written review of the show, it was such a beautiful and spiritual show. I know for me (being a fan since the early 90’s) it was almost magically intense. I was completely emotionally overwhelmed the minute he walked on to the stage and I’m still overjoyed that I was able to go.
