Old Pals Open Toronto & Chicago Shows

by Kathy Davis on August 4, 2009

Here’s a re-post from PearlJam.com:

Ted Leo + the Pharmacists to open the August 21 Toronto show at the Molson Amphitheatre. Supporting Pearl Jam for both United Center shows in Chicago on August 23 and 24 will be Bad Religion.

Wow, Bad Religion…it’s like 1995 all over again!   Wow, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists…it’s like…. 2008 all over again! :)   Two return appearances from two Pearl Jam pals.   As you well know, seminal punk band Bad Religion opened for Pearl Jam in June/July of 1995;  Ted Leo was a support act in June 2008

Ted Leo might be associated with Pharmacists, but Bad Religion’s singer is a Doctor!  I’ve enjoyed both acts as openers, but I was SO impressed to learn a few years back that Bad Religion vocalist/founding member Greg Graffin has a Masters degree in Geology from UCLA and a Ph.D. in zoology/”evolutionary biology” from Cornell University.  So he’s an old school skater punk who now teaches Life/Space/Earth Sciences at  the University of California at Los Angeles when he’s not rockin’ out.  Super cool!
