International Concert Broadcasts & Release Parties

by Kathy Davis on September 16, 2009

Pearl Jam are a global phenomenon, and much is going on internationally (and at home too!) to celebrate the release of studio album number 9, Backspacer.  Here’s a look at some upcoming events – and  to convert event times to your own local time, go to the Time Zone Convertor. :)

Shepherd’s Bush Empire  Concert Broadcast:   Dublin, Ireland independent radio station Phantom 105.9 will be broadcasting Pearl Jam Shepherd’s Bush Empire concert on Friday September 18th at 9 in the evening local time.  According to a write up on Irish site The State:

To mark the launch of their fine new album Backspacer (State review to follow tomorrow), Phantom 105.2 present Pearl Jam live in concert on Friday, September 18th at 21:00. The show was recorded at Shepherds Bush Empire on August 11th, 2009 and features past favourites and tracks from the forthcoming album, including current single ‘The Fixer’. Hear the concert exclusively on Phantom 105.2, Dublin, nationwide on NTL/Chorus channel 935 and online.

The Phantom website is here (though as of this posting the site was down). Their online feed is normally here.  Check their Facebook or Twitter for more details, we reckon.

Berlin Wulheide Concert Broadcast:  Also on Friday Sept. 18th, Germany’s Delta radio announces will stream Pearl Jam’s August 15th performance in Berlin. This site reports the broadcast will start on 8:40 pm German CET.  The original announcement can be found here (in German, of course); live stream will be here - looks like you’ll need the latest Windows Media Player.  thanks to Tomas from Bugs

Fan organized Listening Parties:  Andreas from the Bugs Mailing List shared that there will be a “Pearl Jam vs. Alice In Chains”  listening party in Aachen, Germany:

There will be a nice little Backspacer-release party in Aachen (Germany) on the 2nd of October. Well, to be more precise: It will be a Pearl Jam vs. Alice in Chains-Party, celebrating the new albums of both bands. There will be quite a few PJ-fans from the German forum and it surely would be cool; the party will take place at the Musikbunker Aachen; info can be found
here
. (Shown on their calendar of events here).

Indonesian Pearl Jam fans get Backspacer a little after many of us, and what’s sure to be a wonderful release/listening party is planned on October 10th (Backspacer -will be available on Oct 5th in Indonesia). The celebration is at MIDPOINT II, Senayan, Jakarta. It’s four hours, with FREE entrance. According to Pearl Jam Indonesia’s Helman Taofani: “Our local distributor (Universal Indonesia) had been contacted, and they’ll fully support our small party (perhaps it’ll be 75-100 Pearl Jam fans).”  Check PJ Indonesia’s blog for the latest info.
