Remarkable Night In Portland

by Kathy Davis on September 28, 2009

It was quite a night at the Clark County Amphitheare in Ridgefield, WA – aka “The Portland show”.  (I think I remember Ed greeting us: “Hail Oregonians! Hail Washingtonians….where the f*ck are we?”)

In reverse order of appearance in the setlist, here is some fantastic video footage from the September 26th Pearl Jam show. First for your viewing pleasure, Ben Harper joins Pearl Jam for Red Mosquito in Portland, and it’s pretty much the perfect song to display his guitar skills. We can’t thank YouTube user Spin The Black enough for all of this incredible footage.

Another great guest appearance in Portland, this time former Sleater Kinney singer Corin Tucker joins Ed for John Doe song Golden State:

Last but not least, our boys remind us what it makes more sense to do with a passionately sung by all – crowd included – Present Tense; the video cuts in after the song starts, but…it’s worth it. Enjoy!

Not a perfect rendition of Red Mosquito, but that one’s great!

I was there. It was a great show, a beautiful night, and I will never forget it. We flew 2000 miles just to see them and it was worth every cent.

I would have traded 4 No Ways for 1 Red Mosquito!!

youre crazy, I always loved me some red mosquito, but yield was my favorite, and i always wondered why they didn’t play no way.

i think because no code is extremely hard to play live, which they proved in seattle ;)

Fantastic rendition of Present Tense!! LOVE that song
Also, nice green pants, Eddie. ;-)

I am a bit a prude but once in awhile, I’d love it if Ed could sing Present Tense without dropping the f-bomb.

Damien September 29, 2009 at 4:59 pm

Well, i’m not a prude but I agree with you Patrick. It just doesn’t fit the spirit of the song, and it’s one of my favourite songs. It just feels gratuitous.

Amazing footage all around
