Pearl Jam have only played Auckland twice before – at the same stadium 14 years ago – but it seems to be much more than that. With Brad, Stone toured Australia and New Zealand in 1998. Ed then visited Liam’s dad Neil Finn in 2001 for a run of special shows.

Friday, Pearl Jam returned to Mt Smart Stadium and the varied set included a “Daughter” opener, some rarities (”Hold On”) , and a generational duet with Liam and Neil Finn on “Not Given Lightly”, a 1990 song by New Zealand’s Chris Knox.
