Prior to the second encore, Ed came back on stage with a smoke and something behind his back, indicating he wanted to show the crowd some of his early Christmas presents. “One of the most random gifts I’ve ever received was tonight. But the young band had other ideas. One definition of “Ramblings” as an adjective is “straying from one subject to another; desultory”. While I don’t know what the word “desultory” means, the “Ramblings” B-sides on Pearl Jam’s first three Christmas singles surely live up to their name.
