Here’s another look at Pearl Jam on Saturday Night Live - the March 13th, 2010 episode of the longtime NBC staple. Jude Law hosted, and I thought he did very well. For the first time in a while, the 90 minutes was over before I knew it!
pre-performance photo
The transcendent Backspacer track “Unthought Known”. Don’t you just love Ed’s tribute to Howard Zinn on his guitar? He’s rarely missed an opportunity to express a little extra “something” with each appearance, has he? (No Bush ’92 & coat hanger in 1992, K over chest for Kurt in 1994….)
Sketch Appearance, a takeoff on the 1963 Twilight Zone episode “Nightmare At 20,000 Feet” (which starred William Shatner and was directed, btw, by Richard Donner, director of The Omen and Superman). Photo first, then video.
be very afraid
If you’d like to watch the entire episode, you can do so below or also here:
During the goodbye sequence at the end, Ed blew a kiss, Stone had mouse puppet of some type - which he rocked fearlessly, Ed had a jovial conversation with Jerry Seinfeld (who appeared on Weekend Update), and a good time seemed to be had by all.
Thanks to Dennis F. for the photo link!
Rock!
