Eddie Vedder – Live in NYC – June 21, 2011

by Kathy Davis on June 21, 2011

Our singer was at the Beacon Theatre tonight, with guest appearances by not only Glen Hansard, but the man, the legend Neil Finn. Here’s a bit of info on the night; as with our other Ed 2011 posts, consider this a work-in-progess to which we will add as we unearth more info.

The poster was designed by legendary poster artist Frank Kozic and NYC artist Jermaine Rogers.  Image in the gallery below;  entitled “A Glimpse Of The Future” here are a few words from co-creator Jermaine Rogers, from his Facebook page (courtest DirtyFrankDahmr on Twitter)

EDDIE VEDDER: nite #1 – collaboration between me and Kozik (a.k.a.) ‘an exercise between two losers’. in a distant time in the future…a time when the more gentle creatures of earth have inherited everything that human beings gave away/had taken from them…2 explorers dig through the ruins of what must’ve once been a grand ol’ place….

Some “overheard on the internet” notes on the night: [MSG Twitter]:  Comment from Ed about Beacon Theatre: “It’s beautiful to play these old timey songs in this old beautiful ornate building”  [Message Board Overbends]: “The crowd flipped out completely during Unthought Known. Some punk had the nerve to boo loudly during Arc. Arc! This leads to ten seconds of people yelling at him and it really sucks you out of the moment.” [Twitter JerseyMike7] “‘Long Road’ prefaced with nice story about Bruce & Clarence. Ed said younger version of him woulda climbed the fuck outta Beacon”  [Facebook Eric Shiffman] “… story about seeing Bruce and E Street for the first time … ‘Long Road’ was for The Big Man. Neil on Organ for “Throw Your Arms” was fantastic.”
